Sarabi, a beautiful Lurcher came to Midlands Dog Rescue already heavily pregnant. She came to see vet Louise after her fosterer became concerned that she was still straining several hours after delivering her first puppies.
Despite already giving birth to 8 pups at home, Sarabi was becoming exhausted and further examination confirmed that additional puppies were still present. Ultrasound assessment showed more pups remaining, and with close monitoring and supportive treatment including calcium, Sarabi continued progressing naturally and safely.
While in the practice, Sarabi successfully delivered three more puppies and received additional care to help support her through labour.
In the days following delivery, heartbreakingly, 3 of the puppies sadly passed away despite everyone’s best efforts 
The remaining 8 puppies are thankfully thriving, feeding well, and growing stronger every day and Sarabi has been an incredible mum throughout it all. After everything she has already been through as a rescue dog, her gentle nature and devotion to her puppies have been truly special to see.
